Contract:            Fixed term contract, ending 31 July 2027, full time, 35 hours per week

Location:            Kings Hill based with hybrid working

Salary:                Up to £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)

We are looking for a talented Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

What you will do

At CAF, every one of us contributes to our impact, and as our Senior Financial Accountant you too will play an integral part in what we do.

As our Senior Financial Accountant, you will maintain robust financial control and reporting for CAF and its UK subsidiary, the CAF American Donor Fund (CADF), in line with agreed procedures and controls, including:

  • Preparing statutory and management accounts and maintaining accurate and complete accounting ledgers
  • Supporting the external audit process in collaboration with the Group Financial Accountant.
  • Leading the financial and balance sheet control processes
  • Working with Finance colleagues to assess the impact of operational changes on financial procedures, implementing simpler and more efficient processes while ensuring continued financial control and accurate reporting

Who we are looking for

This role is for you if you have experience of financial control and reporting and supporting the external audit processes or have relevant transferable skills and are keen to make a difference to society. We are looking for:

  • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Experience of financial reporting under FRS 102, including preparation of year-end financial statements and monthly management accounts – knowledge of the accounting and governance framework for charities (Charities SORP) may be advantageous
  • Strong acumen for balance sheet control and reconciliations – experience in banking or financial services may be advantageous
  • Knowledge of tax and VAT regulations
  • Participating in change in medium/large organisations, including systems implementations.
  • Demonstrable post qualifications experience including management of staff
