Location: Kings Hill based with hybrid working (1-2 days per week in the office)

Salary: Up to £65,000 FTE per annum (depending on experience), £39,000 pro-rata

We’re looking for a qualified solicitor to join our busy and growing in-house legal team at Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). If you are looking to work part-time for a well-respected and busy in-house team, please get in touch.

In this varied role, you will have the opportunity to work at a high-level, providing legal support and advice to all aspects of the Charities Aid Foundation’s group, reporting to the Head of Legal Services. The legal team strives to embed CAF’s values at the heart of everything we do. You will have the opportunity to work alongside supportive and motivated colleagues within the legal team and across the CAF group.

What you’ll do

At CAF, every one of us contributes to our impact, and as our Legal Counsel, you too will play an integral part in what we do.

As our Legal Counsel you will:

  • Liaise with people across CAF, providing ad-hoc, commercially-focused legal advice on a broad range of queries from all business areas within the CAF group;
  • work closely with CAF’s product team and provide legal input to improve or develop new product initiatives or deal with complex customer requirements;
  • undertake the drafting and negotiation of a wide variety of legal agreements, such as grant agreements, supplier contracts, bespoke customer contracts, updating CAF terms and conditions, variations to standard terms, and any other agreements used in CAF’s business from time to time;
  • monitor and report on new legal and regulatory updates as part of the Legal team’s Horizon Scanning;
  • assist with the co-ordination of outsourcing of legal work, when necessary; and
  • assist with company secretarial role to the Trust and Group when required.

Who you’ll be

This role is for you if you have experience of at least 3 years post-qualification experience (PQE) as a lawyer working in private practice or in-house, or you have relevant transferable skills and are keen to make a difference to society. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Prepared to work hard in a small team of dedicated and conscientious lawyers;
  • Willing to learn new skills and deal with a wide range of legal conundrums and a diverse client base;
  • A legal professional keen to help CAF deliver its values and purpose to enable a better landscape for giving and a fair and sustainable future for all; and
  • Able to work under pressure at times, in a supportive environment.
